Vacation in Hammytown

Well, it turns out that a week in Hamilton can be much more exciting than I had anticipated. On Tuesday afternoon we got a wicked thunderstorm with almost an inch of rain in one hour...which flooded the end of my street as you can see above, and also my kitchen! I have a window well around my kitchen window, which totally filled up with water becauase of clogged eaves, and then proceded to run like a river down my wall and across my floor. I was running back and forth between mopping the floor and outside emptying the window with a bucket. Interesting to say the least. Now my kitchen floor is all warped :(

My other excitement was that my reservation for a B&B in Barbados was somehow lost or cancelled, which I only found out on Wednesday. Now for a poor little overplanner like me, this seriously hurt my brain to have to call around at the last minute and figure out what the heck to do, since this weekend is the biggest holiday in Barbados and everything is booked! Thankfully the school there was very good to me, took care of the whole thing, and found me a very cheap boarding house to stay at for my time there. The lady is even going to pick me up at the airport! Such service :)

I'm off to finish packing. Bathing suit, towel and a stethoscope should probably be enough right?!

Lots of love
Pamela

By now you must be sunnig on the beaches of Barbados with a cool drink in your hand.

Hope the trip down was un eventful and the passage through two customs was smooth.

Have lots of fun on your long weekend.

Look forward to hearing what life on the island is like, how you get around on the buses and of course have you gotten used to them driving on the wrong side of the road
