Top of the World

Another fun filled weekend to report about. On friday afternoon I toured through the Alien Museum here in Roswell. It was hilarious. All kinds of signed statements from people who were involved telling their side of the story and what "really" happened. It was hilarious. Saturday I took it easy, spent most of the day reading and napping.

On Sunday Amy and I drove out to Ruidoso and met her mom Wendy to go on a 4 hour ride into the mountains. Well not just into, right up to the top! We had to take mules because the trails are so steep going up and down that horses would not be sure-footed enough. It was wild. We started off in a forest in the valley and ended up tracing along the crest of a mountain range. You could literally see 360 degrees around you (and yes dad, I took a 360 degree picture just for you!). We could also see a storm off to one side, and watch the lightening, even though it never got to us. I'm not sure if you'll be able to make that out in the picture, but there is a big cloud and raining coming down, and then blue skies around it. It was the best view I have ever seen. The trailguide could even point out cool geographic things like a city in the distance, and the black earth all around it from a lava flow about 1000 years ago. Breathtaking. I wish I'd had a video camera because word's and pictures just don't do justice to it.

The down side is that I have been sore all over for days! It takes far too many muscles that I don't usually use to ride up and down the mountains. Thankfully Laura gave me a massage at lunch today and now I feel much better. All I need now is to get rid of the burn on my wrists from holding the reigns!

Well, lunch hour is almost over so I'm heading back to work. I will keep you posted on this week's shinanigans :)

Lots of love
Pamela

So that's what real aliens look like. WOW! They don't teach you this in school. Melinda

I hope someone gave the mules massages, they're the ones that did the actual climbing. Poor mules.

What's this same old message for a whole week, Calgary waits a new message too. Either you're working very hard or havingjust too much fun. Go for it!

After 3 days of chasing steam I only have 500 new pics and 2.5 video cassettes I would have more video but the battery died.

From the weather reports, I wonder of Emily (sp.) will track into Roswell from Mexico or whether the mountains will swing to the east through Texas?? Wouldn't that be a story for you children - the time I survived a hurricane in the desert.

Make the most of your last week! Let us know if we'll see you next week.
