Hello all!
It's been a pretty busy week at the clinic dealing with all the people who put off their ailments until after the long weekend. Some interesting things were: watching a big cyst be cut out of a man's chest, doing EKGs, dealing with a patient having seizures, discussing Viagra with a man, and conveniently avoiding watching the removal of an ingrown toenail.
Tonight we decided that we wanted to watch the sunset out in the desert...however we dont' plan ahead very well here. So it turned into a mad dash out of town, tearing down the highway in a big Dodge Hemi, down a dirtroad where we left huge clouds of dust (and had to keep swerving to avoid the unnaturally large population of rabbits?!). And then, at the perfect moment we arrived at the edge of the Red Bluffs just in time to see the sun set. There was a terrific storm brewing so the wind was howling and we kept getting pelted with huge raindrops, but in the distance was blue sky! I had several firsts this evening - first time watching the sunset in the desert, first time I've seen (and touched!) a tumbleweed, first time I've seen (and definitely NOT touched) a tarantula! Now this part...was mildly traumatic. There was some screaming and running. And some frantic clutching of Laura's arm, but thankfully Amy was brave enough to grab my camera and chase the sucker through the desert for a picture. It was also the first time I had someone explain to me what types of artifacts you can find on an archeological site (Amy is an osteoarcheologist..I think) and I now have a pocketfull of funny little rocks! We're going to try to head back out there another night next week when we have more time to walk across the bluffs before the sun sets.
Alright, I'm off to bed to rest up for work tomorrow, but more importantly for a weekend of fun! Who knows what adventures I will have to report back next week.
Lots of love
Pamela
p.s. Happy Birthday Duncan :)
Hey girl,
ReplyDeleteI really, really love all your funny stories. You seem to be having a great time, so keep it up. Things here are, how do you say, um "the same"! I am really glad that you know how to remove moles now because I have a few that I want taken off before my wedding - haha! I had an appointment with a plastic surgeon and for the removal of 2 moles, they are charging me $350.00. I am still in shock.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I love your message board and you crack me up.
Take care and I can't wait to hear about the rest of your adventures.
Love, Tiff
SO you've become a rabbit dogger eh! Deem pesky wittle wascles. In your wildest dreams did you ever think that you would race across a desert in a hemi just to see the sun go down?? Surprises happen every day! That's what memories are made of kid.
ReplyDeleteSo tell me - does someone with terantulaphobia scream any louder than someone with arachniaphobia. I believe not! And it was soo cute and fuzzy too! Too bad Laura and Amy didn't have a video camera to record that one for prosperity but then perhaps its better that we have to replay it in our minds eye.
So the great southwest desert adventure is half over. I wonder what will happen in the second half?
Keep learning and having fun too!!
luv
