Dreams

Once upon a time there was a little girl who dreamed of growing up to be a princess. She had a paperdoll book of Princess Diana and dreamed about what it would be like to wear ball gowns, live in castles, ride horses and meet her prince.

Over the years she came to the sad realization that being a princess is not a job you can really train for. It wasn't on any of the university course lists, so instead she decided to work really hard and become a doctor. Being a doctor was kind of like being a princess....except scrubs instead of gowns and lots more blood and vomit. Ok it wasn't like being a princess at all but she loved it with all her heart. And she realized that princes are not really real either, but that engineers are just about the coolest men you can meet - cause they are smart, and funny, and usually quite hot.

Then one day, while she was training to be a doctor, she met a man who laughed all the time. No matter how bad the day he would find something funny to say to make her smile. AND he was an engineer! What are the chances?! They talked over the internet for years and years and years because they lived in different kingdoms. All of the little girl's friends knew that this engineer was a prince in disguise, but she just couldn't see it yet.

Finally, the little girl got to see the wonderful engineer in person again and then she could see what she had been missing all those years. He really was a prince and made all her dreams come true. So on a chilly evening, by the twinkling of the Christmas lights, the wonderful engineer told the girl that he loved her more than anything in the whole world, and asked her to marry him.

Aaaaaaaand - since the girl is marrying a prince - that means she gets to be a princess after all :)
