Now that life is starting to get back to normal, and we have unpacked most of the boxes, I can get back to the best hobby ever - quilting. What better way to spend a day than creating art out of bits of fabulous fabric? And in the end the art is something cozy and wonderful and full of love that you can give to a friend. Perfect.
Quilting is NOT a waste of time involving chopping up perfectly good fabric into itty bitty pieces only to sew it back together again. (Charles...I'm looking at you here....NOT a waste of time!)
This week while babysitting my favourite girls I was finally able to finish off a quilt I've been working on for over a year. (In fact I got another one bound and ready to send off this week, but I can't post about that until this person receives their gift!) The one we are talking about today was a gift for my very good friend Somaiah in celebration of her birthday. Well....it was supposed to be in celebration of her starting her new practice....but thankfully she put that off by 6 months...and then had a birthday shortly after that....so now I can claim it is only two months late instead of two years. No joke - one time her birthday present was a year and a half late. HAHAHA. Good thing we love each other :) And a special thanks to Dianne who lets me use her "wonder machine" (ie. computerized long arm quilter) to do the amazing butterfly quilting that you see.
Lots of love
