So along that line - I like to think I make a very fun and smart replacement for parents when I babysit my family. My nephew and I had a great morning the other day - we built forts, and puzzles, and I taught him a new song that he could sing over and over to annoy his parents, and we had a healthy lunch. It was a successful morning. Then yesterday when I went to visit him my brother and decided to snack on Halloween candy while he was napping. He promptly found us in the livingroom with the box of chocolate bars, took away the candy and said - "Auntie Pammy, you have had enough! you are going to spoil your supper!" HA! Where have I gone wrong with this one?
Then last night I "thought" I got all the girls off to bed. The younger ones were definitely tucked in and light off. The older one's door was closed, and I didn't see lights on, so I assumed she had gone to bed at her bedtime as well, so off I went to bed.....silly me...... 45 minutes later I heard footsteps and the shower turn on for her nightly shower and bedtime routine! ACK! She was reading and not actually in bed! I should have known better than to fall for that! Clearly I am very naive in the ways of parenting. Thankfully I know her parents won't read this blog until they are home and have seen that everyone is alive and well :) (Hi guys! hope you liked Vegas!)
Well....my coffee and the paper are calling me. The girls are all off to school after I invented a new song this morning. (To the tune of 3 blind mice)
Buns in the car, Buns in the car
Buns in the car, Buns in the car
Hurry and get your buns in the car
We're going to school its not very far
Something and something that rhymes with car
Buns in the car
.....kept the 5 year old laughing all the way to school :) At least I can still get laughs even if I am a naive substitute parent!

At Christmas time you can sing them the same song to Jingle bells and tell them it's a totally new song
