Projects

I need to have projects to keep me busy, and being busy keeps me happy. The first couple of months/trips to Thailand were a bit of a challenge for me because I felt like I sat at home all day waiting for Ray to come home. But now I'm starting to settle into my own life here, which keeps me occupied and amused :)

First I renovated the backyard. It was an overgrown mess that you would never want to spend time in. It took 3 days of scrubbing the walls and bricks with a wire brush, and pulling weeds, to get it back to a more tamed state. Then of course a shopping trip with Claire for some nice furniture, and a couple trips to the nursery with Somaiah to pick out just the right plants. Would you believe that 3 trees, 2 orchids, 5 hanging plants, a chili pepper, 4 large pots and some earth came to about $30??? The boys are lucky I didn't go hog-wild and create a tropical rain forest back there with those prices!

And now I am settling in to work :) This is my little corner of the world which the guys have graciously allowed me to create in our house. I have my desk near the back door so I can procrastinate by gazing at my orchids and plants. I have an Indonesian batik on the wall, and a painting of a lotus leaf that I got in the market in Bangkok. A second monitor to go with my laptop makes transcribing information back and forth SO much easier. An ipod dock for entertainment. My family pictures that travel EVERYWHERE with me. And me - looking somewhat sleepy at 8am with my Starbucks instant coffee, ready to log-in to the office as Ray heads off to his work.

Lots of love
Pamela

p.s. I think I need a new motto for life to go with my new 'office'.....any suggestions?
