Another first

There are a lot of important 'firsts' in life. First time a baby talks, first steps, first date, first car, and then of course - first speeding tickets. I guess some of us are late bloomers....because today was my first speeding ticket. Sigh. Oh well, it was bound to happen eventually.

It's very hard to keep to the speed limit when you are zipping along a deserted stretch of road between Middle-Of-Nowhere and Thunder Bay at 9am on a sunny morning, in a rush to catch a flight. I knew I was doomed when I rounded a corner, and a cop coming in the other direction suddenly pulled over and did a U-turn. He taunted me for a few km's by just following me without lights on, and finally pulled me over once we got to the most inconvenient stretch of road with little shoulder space.

He was nice enough, but I don't think he really knew what to do with me. By the time he got to my window I had my licence and car info out and as he said "I pulled you over for speeding" I said "I know" and passed him the documents. He just sort of stared at me. "Ummm.....uh......do you have a reason you were driving so fast" - he asked. I guess most people don't just admit to it so easily. *shrug*

The funniest part was that as I pulled away with my $120 fine in hand, I looked up at the sky and this totally random chunk of rainbow appeared. Straight up and down, no arch, it wasn't raining, there weren't even clouds in the sky! And then in my head it's like I heard God chuckle to himself and say - You're welcome little one, I wouldn't want you to get hurt driving so fast. hahahahaha. Hilarious. And then my little chunk of rainbow followed along until I was almost at Thunder Bay, momentarily turned into a rainbow ring around the rising sun, and then disappeared - off to do more good somewhere else.

So thank you - for the rainbow and the lesson.

Pamela

p.s. Raymond - don't you dare say two words about me always being late for the airport :P
