I am sitting at my desk, enjoying the warmth of spring, and feeling quite philosophical as the sunshine lights up my life.
I have had the most lovely time locuming here for two weeks. I love the people, love the town, and above all I just love Canada. On Monday afternoon I went ice fishing after work with some friends and their kids...but by saturday it was 15 degrees! So I took a one hour hike with a friend and her baby and we played on a sandy beach, teaching Matthew about the feeling of sand and what breezes are like on his face. How dreamy.
The nurses totally put up with my quirks and naivety. Last week a patient's husband called in to complain that despite being seen by a doctor, her throat was still so sore she couldn't swallow. The nurse told me this and I burst out laughin....*puzzled look from her*....Me: Come on - a husband called to complain that his wife can't swallow...that doesn't sound dirty to you?.....*shocked face*.....hmmm.....uncontrollable laughter. I supposed I should pick my audience better or learn to apply a more stringent filter :)
Certainly feels like home here - but as I've discussed many time - LOTS of places feel like home. So off I go later this week, back to my far off home to officially start a life of forever with my partner. I love him in a cheesey gushy mushy wonderful gives you butterflies kind of way and I can't wait for a whole new series of adventures and homes with him!
Stay tuned in the next couple of months as I sort out a work plan and we hopefully plan for a move to a new location.
Lots of love
Pamela
