and then!

Man I feel like I've been busy all day - and I've never said that in Marathon!!

I had a procedure at the hospital first thing this morning - putting in an IUD. I *thought* I had gotten past the point where I faint when I have to put instruments through the cervix....but sadly I was wrong. So...I almost fainted after I put the IUD in, and the nurse had left the room. There I was, at a jaunty leaning angle on my stool, face pale white, sweating, mentally reminding myself to not fall over in front of the patient, trying to casually chat about what to expect in the next couple of days while I fought the urge to run out of the room and put my head between my legs. Blah. So then....I had to have a chat with the nurses about how cervixes (cerviii?) make me faint and please don't leave me alone doing procedures. LOL. We all had a good laugh about that..yup....very funny...Dr. faints from sympathetic pain when doing painful things to the cervix. Hilarious!

Then I actually had quite a busy day in emerg, just steady regular stuff. Made it home for a nice feast of A&W mid afternoon and was just relaxing on the couch....and I got called back in.

I was supposed to drain some fluid off a belly of a person with liver disease from chronic alcoholism...but sadly her labs were bad bad bad so I said - nuts to that, you need to go to Thunder Bay. There is only so much we can do in Marathon and special blood products is not on our list of services, so there was an hour of phone calls and paperwork to do for that.

Then..hmm...a couple more patients in emerg. THEN! (best part of the day) Pizza Hut brought us a free pizza cause they accidentally cooked one too many for an order! How nice is that?!

Then...I came home and shoveled my driveway. It was lovely to be out in the snow and the cool crisp air and the stars. And when I finished I looked at my work and thought - wtf? were you drunk? I've never seen such a bad shoveling job! I might have to redo it tomorrow so the neighbours don't think I'm too southern to shovel.

Then...I actually put my car in the garage for the first time in case it snows a lot tonight so I don't have to wipe it off.....but the garage door opener is not working. So I whipped open the door - it flew way way up onto the ceiling, and me being vertically challenged could not reach it to pull it back down! So I had to climb on the back bumper and hang off the door and jump up and down to try to get it back down. That was right about when a group of people walked by on their evening walk :)

So here I am...back on the couch at last...watching my Christmas lights twinkle and the snow softly fall and thinking to myself - today was a pretty good day. Oh and I have Oh Come All Ye Faithful stuck in my head.....at least that's better than the day in clinic when Johnny Appleseed was stuck in my head and I almost sang it out loud in the communal open concept Doctor's Office Area!!!

Love
Moi

Ha ha nice. I just got snow here too. Not enough for a fort yet but when we get enough you should come up because me and my roommates are going to have a snowball fight in the back yard with two forts.
