That's basically my catch phrase...wherever I go people ask me. Sometimes the accent is pretty obvious!
Ok, so my first week at work is almost done and I am having the MOST amazing time. I have learned to give shots, put in freezing, cut off people's moles etc. and then sew them back up again, do full physicals, pap smear (ew...and ew...), I'm getting much better at the computer system, and at interesting conversations like - so you've lost your sex drive and you don't like your husband, what do you think you'd like to do about that? I also quickly discovered that I can get free lunch every day at the hospital in the doctors lounge. Let me tell you, one and a half hour lunch breaks, free food, friday afternoons off...I think I may have picked the perfect profession!
I've been out exploring town a bit more. I am very sad to report that I was misinformed about the presence of a Tiffany's at the local mall (I use the term mall loosely...I would tell you to picture the arnprior mall but only about two people reading this would get that!). However, I could easily spend every dime I don't have at Target, so that will keep me happy for quite a while.
I can report that this dry heat thing is not a hoax. It actually is much more comfortable. I sat outside and had dinner with the Raes family last night, and it was beautiful to be out in the warm weather. There is always a breeze here which is also nice. I think I could get used to this!!
I apologize for the lack of pictures this time...I think I needed a week to take it all in through my own eyes before I'm willing to look at it through a camera. I will post some pics after this weekend...hoping to do some hiking, there is the UFO festival, an exercise course on kettlebells?! and two days on-call at the hospital. FUN FUN FUN! (and that isn't one bit sarcastic...I think that this vacation has leached the sarcasm out of me!)
Oh, and as a final note...they start to celebrate July 4th more than a little bit early here, so people have been setting off fireworks all week. I have never seen so many places to buy fireworks. It might in fact be the major state crop...fireworks and billboards. They put the toronto skyline to shame for sure!!
Lots and lots of love
Pamela
p.s. Happy Canada Day!!
p.p.s Did I mention that on my first night there was a rainbow to welcome me??
p.p.p.s. Apparently, I'm still in the kid at christmas phase!
So you needed more reasons to love doctoring? And a UFO festival... as if July 4th wasn't enough!
