Endings and beginnings

I am amazed at how quickly the time has passed this summer. This week was a blur - with mom's retirement party, packing the house, the movers loading everything up, signing all the papers with the lawyers and dropping off my keys, and of course still working at the clinic every day. I am so thankful that mom came to help out, and I feel so blessed by all the people who went out of their way to make me feel special and give me a nice goodbye.

I sort of feel like I'm living my life in reverse at the moment. Three and a half years ago I left Hamilton, drove to Kingston to pick up my keys, ate Red Lobster on the floor of an empty home with my friend Liza and slept on an air mattress while waiting for my stuff to arrive. This week I had Red Lobster with mom since all the dishes were packed, slept on the air mattress after the shipment left, and now here I am at Duncan's house in Hamilton as the first stop on my roadtrip to Texas. It's sort of surreal.

And yes - I did just say roadtrip to Texas. Ray was not able to get out to Vancouver to get his car before he started work, and we can't really afford TWO new cars when we are buying a house as well......so Sparky (my honda civic) and I are taking a roadtrip to Texas :) Raymond, in his infinite wisdom and kindness bought me a GPS for the trip. And mom made me a mix CD of country songs about places in Texas.

So here I go! I feel a bit like a little bird on the edge of the nest saying to herself - I think I can, I think I can - and getting ready to fly.

Better stop writing and get back on the road - today I'll try to make it to Indianapolis. I'll leave you with the words of one of my favourite books:

So....
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea
you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So....get on your way!
~ Dr. Seuss

Lots of love
Pamela
