Valley Charm

I am home, and it is fantastic. I am always worried before I come home, because sometimes it can be a real disaster....and I just don't think I could handle another disaster right now. But thankfully, it has be nothing but wonderful!

I am staying in a beautiful old stone condo building in my Grandma's apartment. She is currently in the hospital, waiting for a place in a nursing home, so I get to visit her every day. Her neighbours have all been incredibly nice, and the man down the hall brings me meals every couple of days! He even brought me a bottle of wine. If I was 85...he'd be looking pretty fine :)

Almost every night of the week I get to mooch dinner off a different household - sometimes my dad, sometimes my adopted families, sometimes friends. All in all - there is a ton of socializing, and a ton of eating. It is a great life.

I even put up a Christmas tree in an attempt to stop being the Grinch. For those of you who know me well, you know that Christmas is definitely not my favourite holiday...so it takes quite a lot of effort to stomach it. But I have discovered something this year that I love - Fakemas. A tradition started by my mom's best friend's family. They celebrate Christmas a week early with a whole weekend of movies, games, napping on the couch, and fantastic meals. It is darn near perfect.

Work is so much more laid back here. I have scrubbed in on several surgeries and never been yelled at once :) I haven't been given any homework assignments, and I have had the pleasure of reading an entire fiction novel this past week! If there is a heaven, I'm pretty sure it looks like this. The only downside is that the rain washed away the snow...so I haven't been out skiing or snowshoeing yet, but I'm sure it will come back in January.

Lots of love
Pamela
