Ok so there weren't lions or tigers...but there was a bear! Somaiah and I scooted out to take some pictures of the sunset on Lake Superior last night, and as we returned home there were lots of cops around. This is a bit odd because Marathon only has a couple of cops....so why would they all be on my street? hmmm....then we saw one with a rifle....hmmm....but we were busy chatting and laughing so we didn't really think much of it. As I walked in the house (and Somaiah was getting stuff from her car) we heard a neighbour screaming crazy yelling at his dog in a very scared voice so I rushed back out the door to see what was going on....
....and that is when a big black bear walked across my neighbour's lawn and into their back yard!
Holy cow! I never cease to be amazed by what all I see up here. So far this trip I have been to my first Powow, seen bears on 3 separate occasions, rabbits, hawks, lots of squirrels, a million butterflies I never knew existed, and the most bizarre fog patterns in the world! Went to a beach volleyball tournament where I got to watch a team of our docs (all in their 30's and 40's) go undefeated against all the local youth! Kayaked for 3 hours on Superior with the previous head of the United Church of Canada. Visited a quilt and art show. Planted our backyard and rebuilt a bbq!
Last night Raymond went fishing, but sadly came home empty handed. Luckily we are headed to a golf tournament and bbq tonight so we won't go hungry :)

p.s. Yes the rumours are true - we are moving to Texas! More news and stories on that to come soon :)
How is Texas ever going to compete with the delights of Marathon? ;)
