BEST DAY EVER!!!!

Well fridays are now officially the best day ever! I learned where the fresh market is on friday - 2 blocks down from where I live! Very convenient. So off I went this morning with my market bag and a few dollars in baht, thinking maybe I could get one or two things and next week I would have more money on hand for fridays.

Well - Money is not required to have fun at the market! First of all when you enter there are tables with fresh pork. From what I gather, you advertise your pork by displaying the best head...of the pig....a big old head just sitting there on the table. I laughed out loud and spent the next ten minutes recalling Lord of the Flies in my head and quiet mumbling - Sucks to your assmar. hahaha

The people are SUPER nice. We had lovely games of pantomime and bad thai combined with bad english. But it all worked out the in the end. One man convinced me to buy 4 of his treats instead of two by showing me which coin would get me 4.

And the fish! The fish are sooooooooo fresh that they are still flopping in the buckets. I kid you not. Fresh flopping fish at the Friday market. There was tons of clothes that I didn't really poke around in too much this time, and one table of cottons, but I already found out where the great place is for cotton so I'll go there instead. There was lots of jewelry, sweets, BBQ, deep fried stuff in pots right there, shoes, clothes, drink stands. It was brilliant! And fresh flowers....oh my goodness the fresh flowers. They are heavenly.

In total I bought:
grapes as big as your eyeball
4 asian pears
3 apples
1 thing that I think is a white pomegranate....we'll see
a new towel
stopped for a drink half way through cause it was incredibly hot
4 sesame balls
a bag of some sort of candy treats
a bag of tofu with sauce (everything comes in bags here....lunch, drinks, doesn't matter - plastic bag)
a very large bunch of fruit that I don't know what they are, but they might be lychee
and 2 huge bunches of the most beautiful orchids
.....for a grand total of 10 dollars. And I sweat off at least 10 pounds while doing all this :)
